Finite Element Analysis

The concept of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is as follows:

It is a data-driven approach to predict the behaviour of materials and products when they come in contact with the real world circumstances. The behaviour in terms of physical changes (mechanical stress), heat impact, fluid movement and other factors are closely studied. This analysis brings in certainty to the product behaviour and helps ascertain the success or failure of the product when it hits the market. The outcome of the analysis will clarify to the product designer whether the product will break, tear, wear out or even behave the way it is supposed to.

As the name suggests, the exercise requires a careful study of specific elements. People carrying our the finite element analysis break the entire product into smaller parts called the ‘finite elements’. The concept believes that finer the ‘elements’, the higher the accuracy. With algorithms in place, it is more likely to pin-point the behaviour of the product in question to varying simulations. The understanding of the product and its elements get better as the algorithms improve.

Finite Element Analysis gives an edge to product designers. Since the study is based on computer-simulated environments, the process is absolutely safe, non-hazardous, statistically sharp, time-saving and cost-saving while providing a variety of testing environments all along.

Consultiger.com is hosting experts across multiple industries and specialisations and is closely looking at the Finite Element Analysis space as well.
