This Man Should be Your Consultant!

5 key traits (of your consultant) that you should care about!

  1. Is he a tiger at heart! Your consultant needs to show the urgency to solve the problem. He should hunt the problem down like a tiger would hunt its prey down. If he is asking you more questions about the problem instead of rolling up his sleeve and aggressively pursuing the case, please do yourself a favor by walking away from this consultant.
  2. Does he tell you what is what and what is not! You must get the confidence from your consultant that he is working at resolving your issues transparently. He should give his thorough analysis of the problem, state the solution that he is intending to deploy, and the cost, time and resource requirement to solve the problem. If he says “Trust Me”, you don’t need to.
  3. Does he think that your team should be a past tense! You don’t want to retain a consultant who displays an air of superiority around him and treats your existing technical team as, to put it mildly, lacking in intelligence. Your team is your strength and a consultant who works closely with your team to get that breakthrough that he has been hired for is your man.
  4. Does he flaunt his educational qualification instead of success stories! A great educational background is a big plus. But, please do give greater importance to your consultant’s on the job accomplishments. You will appreciate that there is a BIG difference between knowing what to do and actually doing it. So, watch out people who rest their case with the educational qualification only.
  5. Does he ‘educate’ you on running your business! Well, you would agree with this one straightaway — he is not your man and you know it.
